Neither do I, but Vienna Teng’sĀ songs made me think of angels. A 27- year- old Stanford computer science grad [she was working as a software engineer in Silicon Valley], Vienna gave all that up to pursue her musical passions [and how lucky we are for that]. She has already released two critically acclaimed independent albums: 2002’s Waking Hour and 2004’s Warm Strangers, which landed on three Billboard album charts and reached #2 on Amazon’s best-seller list. And in 2006 she released her third album, Dreaming Trough the Noise.
“People used to ask what kind of music I played and I never knew how to answer that,” says Teng. “I work a lot with classically trained musicians, but most of my influences are from 1970’s-era folk music. So now I call it chamber folk.”
She also came with the concept of Green Caravan Tour. During her shows across US, she and her band worked with Habitat for Humanity, building housesĀ [on days off], tried to reduce the tour environmental impact on the road and backstage and donated part of the merchandise proceeds to nonprofits.
Enjoy her music here!!!
